May BPA Meeting 5/14
The May BPA meeting will be on Tuesday 5/14 at 7:30.
Memorial Day Parade 5/27
The BRHS Marching Band will be performing in the 2024 Memorial Day Parade on Memorial Day. All students who participated in the band this past fall (2023) are expected to attend and honor their commitment to the community and to the band! Music for the event has been posted on google classroom, and there is one rehearsal scheduled for all wind players on Friday 5/24 from 2:30 - 4:30pm. There are chaperoning opportunities to help the band, please check your email for a signupgenius link from the BPA.
The schedule is not yet available but please plan for a morning arrival to BRHS and a return in the early-mid afternoon to BRHS. The parade route is in Bradley Gardens and concludes at Ardmaer Park with a Memorial Day Ceremony and a brief stop at the American Legion Post for refreshments. Students must take the buses to and from BRHS for the event, even though it is a local performance.

Preview dates are for anybody and everybody to come try out what marching band is like! It is not required to attend both preview nights but it is recommended. You also may sign up even if you don't attend a preview night.
Once registration is closed, the roster is final and all signed up students must attend the Spring Mini-camp dates where we'll begin learning our 2024 show. Please review the season commitment as a family before deciding to sign up! Students who sign up in June are 100% in and an individualized performance role will be written for each member during July (music, movement, and coordinated choreography, etc.). Since every student gets their own spot, it can be extremely challenging for the band to make changes in August or September if a student decides to leave the band. The marching band experience is 100% worth it, so please manage family/personal schedules to make it happen!
Band Camp (all of the August dates) is essential for the marching band experience and are mandatory. We request that any vacations/trips etc. be planned around these camp dates to allow for full participation at each day of band camp. We understand travel arrangements are often booked many months ahead of time - if you/your family have a conflict please notify Mr. Mossa & Dr. Bourgault as soon as possible to determine if there is a solution to be met.
Be reminded that regular season practices will be on MONDAY & WEDNESDAY. Our full competition/football/parade/etc. schedule first draft is embedded in the calendar of events below.
2024 BRHS Marching Band Student Leadership
The 2024 Student Leadership Program will be running over several days. The training program is open to all students interested in joining the marching band and will prepare students for application to a student leadership position within the ensemble. Students can expect to workshop various leadership concepts, activities, recruitment initiatives, and more! All are welcome!
Students seeking a leadership position must attend all sessions and will be appointed/promoted after officially registering for the group. Application processes will be introduced at the first leadership meeting.
Leadership meetings -- 5/15, 5/20 (5:00 - 6:30pm), 5/22, 5/29 from 6:00 - 8:00pm
BPA Clothing Drive Fundraiser & Monitor Flash Sale 6/8
The BPA will be running a dual-fundraiser event on the morning of Saturday June 8th at BRHS. Bring gently used items in large garbage bags for drop off - the BPA will earn funds based on total weight of all donations and the donations will become available in communities of need at low or no cost through the company. It's a win-win, do some good and some Spring cleaning! Click here to read more about the fundraiser (which items are accepted).
At the same time, we will be running a Monitor Sale of lightly used name-brand monitors priced $25 and up. The proceeds from the sale will contribute to the BRHS Wind Ensemble's recording expenses as they prepare to submit an application to the Music for All National Concert Band Festival (held in Spring 2025). Click here to read more about the fundraiser. Click here to read more about the festival.
Band Banquet 6/10
The BRHS Band Banquet is Monday June 10th from 6pm - 10pm. Invitations to attend (Google Form) have been posted via Google Classroom and emailed to all BPA families. The form will close after May 29th.
The banquet is our time and place to celebrate every performing ensemble in the band program and all of the experiences we shared this year. We also recognize our graduating seniors, give awards, varsity letters for our first-year marchers, and more! It is a semi-formal event so you can dress up a little (does not need to be concert black). Family members are welcome to attend.
This is a non-mandatory event, simply an opportunity for students to spend a fun evening together!
